Carved from pink salt mines in the Himalayas, each plate is unique and offers a natural, beautiful, and original way to serve and season your foods. At roughly 8 inches square and 1.25 inches thick, Salt Plates can be rinsed and reused safely time after time.
Suggestions: We suggest using these when serving steak, sushi, fish, and salads. Try chilling the plate to serve sashimi, which will pick up salinity from the plate. One of our favorite presentations of Wagyu Beef allows your guests to sear thin slices at the table on one of these salt plates heated to 500 degrees in an oven. Use caution when transporting the plate from the oven to the table, and find a well insulated ceramic holder to place the hot salt plate.
About Himalayan Crystal Salt
Himalayan Crystal Salt contains about 95% sodium chloride with the remain 5% being trace minerals. Some include potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, oxygen, hydrogen, fluoride, and iodine. Himalayan crystal pink salt slabs are harvested from salt deposits deep within the Himalayan Mountains. There, they have remained protected from pollution and impurities for millions of years, making this what many consider the purest, cleanest salt in the world. The salt is mined as large boulders and later carved into slabs, blocks, bricks, plates, and bowls.
